Norman Van Tassell, Sr. age 82 born to Laura and Lewis Van Tassell January 16, 1934 in Arden NY and died September 20, 2016.

After finishing school he began work in Bear Mountain State Park in Upstate NY. While there he had several responsibilities, he was head supervisor over the electrical department. When it snowed, which was often he plowed all the roadways in the park and when there was a fire in the park that was another hat he had to put on. After retiring with 33 years behind him, he moved to Blue Ridge, GA in 1989 and for many years he worked with his son Lewis doing electrical work. He attended the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Blue Ridge.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers and one son, Norman, Jr.

Survivors include; wife of 61 yrs, Audrey Van Tassell, daughters and sons-in-law: Cindy and Glen Durant, Ellijay, Laurel and Dan Colwell, Ellijay, son and daughters-in-law; Lewis and Mary Ellen Van Tassell, Blue Ridge, Robbie Binder, Ellijay, brother–in-law: Elmer Coates, Monroe, NY, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held Saturday Oct. 1, 2016 at 4:30pm from the Blue Ridge Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with speaker Daniel Allen officiating. The family request in lieu of flowers, none be sent to the services.

The family would really like to extend their appreciation to the Grandview Nursing Home in Jasper, GA for all the loving care given to Norman over the past 3 years.
