Family Story Times

Join us for this week’s story “Fall Into a Book!” All ages welcome. Family Story Time is an excellent ways to strengthen your children’s literacy skills, and all stories are always followed by a simple craft you can complete with your child.

The Lego Crew
Saturday, October 8 @ 2:00 PM
Lego Crew has a different theme each month. Children can work alone or in teams to make their own special creations, which will be displayed at the library until the next month’s meeting. Lego Crew is open to anyone who want to participate

Adult Programs
Lunch & Learn Knitting
Wednesday, October 5 @ 12:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Lauren Cape and Lynda Decker will be your host and teacher. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! It’s OK if can’t come to all the meetings. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.

Local Author Joyce Bennett, who has written three books, will give an author presentation and will be signing her new book Move Up the Mountain. Everyone is invited to attend.

Master Gardeners Workshop
Saturday, October 8 @ 10:00 AM
Pumpkin Succulent Arrangements. This workshop will be held outside at the DIG. All are welcome to participate in this educational program. Optional: For a fee that covers the cost of materials, attendees can create their own succulent arrangement. Sign up at the Gilmer County Extension office or at the Saturday Farmer’s Market beside the courthouse.

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

Want to spend more time outdoors with a new hobby like fly fishing? The Bookshelf has a wonderful collection of books on fly fishing, all in excellent condition, and many about Georgia streams.

Thinking of donating books to the library? Do it now! The newer the books, the more likely they are to be added to the library’s collection. They will also be welcome at the Bookshelf and appreciated by our customers.

Bookshelf hours are from 10:30-5:00 on weekdays and from noon-2:00 on Saturdays
