Virtual Reality Demonstration – 12:00 PM
Virtual Reality is now at SRLS! If you are VR curious, come and test drive our new Oculus Rifts and discover a whole new level of gaming and exploration.
Pacific Rim – 2:00 PM
Pacific Rim – As a war between humankind and monstrous sea creatures wages on, a former pilot and a trainee are paired up to drive a seemingly obsolete special weapon in a desperate effort to save the world from the apocalypse. Free Refreshments!
Transformers Fandom – 4:00 PM
A local Transformers and toy expert will discuss his personal collection and offer tips on finding and buying Transformers, other toys, and collectibles.

Tween Book Club – Goosebumps

Goosebumps the Movie – Upset about moving from the big city to a small town, young Zach Cooper finds a silver lining when he meets his beautiful neighbor Hannah. The teen is surprised to learn that Hannah’s mysterious father is R.L. Stine the famous author. Free refreshments!
My First Book Club

“Junie B. Jones … Boo! And I Mean It!” For children in grades 2-4. Drop by the library before the meeting to pick up your reading packet. Read the book before the meeting and come prepared to discuss the book with other children. Kids 9 and under with adult supervision please.

Join us for this week’s story “Scarecrows!” All ages welcome. Family Story Time is an excellent ways to strengthen your children’s literacy skills, and all stories are always followed by a simple craft you can complete with your child.

Lunch & Learn Knitting
Wednesday, October 12 @ 12:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Lauren Cape and Lynda Decker will be your host and teacher. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! It’s OK if can’t come to all the meetings. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

It’s time to start planning holiday gifts and the Bookshelf has a great selection of newer books on knitting, crochet, and quilting. Find patterns and inspiration for gifts that are sure to be appreciated.
If you’re not already a Friend of the Library please join us next time you come into the Bookshelf. Memberships start at only $10.00 and contribute to buying new books (including E-books) for the library’s collection. You’ll enjoy the monthly newsletter, special events, and will be the first to know about the collections we put out each week.
Bookshelf hours are from 10:30-5:00 on weekdays and from noon-2:00 on Saturdays
