During their Work Session for February, the Gilmer County Board of Education made two recognitions.

The first of which honored several members of Gilmer’s Football Players for being named to the 2016 Football Region 6AAAA All Region Team.

Those selected were Griffin Cagle as Wide Receiver to First Team Offense, Levi Seabolt as Offensive Line to First Team Offense, Drew Dyer as Defensive Back to First Team Defense, Greg Engler as Tight End to Second Team Offense, Dustin Brenner as Offensive Line to Second Team Offense, Austin Lacy as Defensive Line to Second Team Defense, and Cameron Engler as Linebacker to Second Team Defense. Also, Kell Kiker and Chandler Sutton received Honorable Mentions to the All Region Team.

RDotsonThe second Recognition belonged to Ms. Renee Dotson, who many know as the County Extension Coordinator for the local Extension Office. Of course, now that will be former County Extension Coordinator as her recognition comes on the heels of her announced retirement.

The Board of Education recognized Dotson’s 28 total years of service with 26 of those in service to the Gilmer County community and its schools through adult and youth classes, 4H work on both student projects and camps, support in Seamless Summer programs, public exhibits, and even local news publications.
