Mr. John “J.T.” Thomas Luttrell, age 89 of Ellijay, GA, died Friday May 19, 2017.
Mr. Luttrell was a man of deep faith who enjoyed serving his Lord. He accepted Jesus Christ in November of 1947, baptized in January of 1948 and ordained as a Deacon of the Baptist Church on March 31,1953. A veteran of the U.S Army, he was retired from General Motors and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was the Brotherhood Director as well as working with the Disaster Relief Director. His favorite activities were gardening, fishing and family.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Paul Luttrell & Rossetta Martin Luttrell; Sister, Louise Burnett; Granddaughter, Alesha Barrett; Step-Son, Charles Mulkey; Step-Daughter-in-law, Shelba Mulkey; Step- Son-in-law, Dave Dagraedt; Step-Granddaughter, Lisa Batten.
He will be missed by his Wife, Alma May Mulkey Luttrell, Ellijay; Daughter, Dorothy (Jim) Powell, White; Son, Aaron (Thelma) Luttrell, Hiram; Grand-Daughters, Sandra (Micah) Cook, Woodstock & Angie (Darrell) Millsap, Hiram; Great Grand-Children, Brad English, Emily Wilson, Lisa Thomas, Shana Seyboth, Brent Millsap and Cody Millsap….& (7) Great-Great-Grand-Children. Siblings: E.P Jr. (Virginia) Luttrell, Ellijay, Jewell (Mike) Meigle, Marietta, Jane Morris, Marietta, Frank (Diane) Luttrell, Powder Springs and many nieces, nephews and other family members. Step-Son, Ruel Mulkey, Ellijay; Step-Daughter, Wanda Dagraedt, Ellijay; Step Daughter-in-law, Carol Mulkey; Step Grand-Children: Cindy Nicholson, Matt Mulkey, Shelly (Jason) Martin, Ryan (Gretchen) Garrett and (8) Step Great-Great-Grand-Children also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday May 22nd at 2:00pm from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Rubin Smith and Rev. Dan Rosser officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Family will receive friends on Sunday May 21st from 2:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
