Mr. James Mellin Huff, age 79, of Ellijay passed Friday, June 1, 2018, at his home.  Jim was born April 14, 1939 in Blue Ridge to the late G. L. and Erna Huff.  He was a graduate of the Southern School of Pharmacy at Mercer University and, along with his brothers, operated Huff’s Drug Store.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ellijay and was active with the Boy Scouts of America for many years.
In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by Barbara, his wife of 53 years; his brother G.L. Huff (Ruth) and sisters Carolyn (Mick) Bryan and Dorothy “Nonnie” Mosely.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Valeria Huff of Campbellsburg, Kentucky; his daughter and fiancé Laura Grant and Rob Parks of Ellijay; grandchildren, Jonathan,Rebekah and Lindsay Huff and Kell Grant.  He is also survived by his brother Bill (Peggy) of Ellijay.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held Sunday June 3, 2018 at 3:00 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Glenn Cummings, Ben Arp, Rev. James Holt, and Dr. Michael Huff officiating.  The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church from 2pm-3pm until the time of service.
We would like to thank the staff of Compassus who have given Jim such wonderful care in his final weeks as well as his many friends who have been such an integral part of his life.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Gilmer Christian Learning Center or Troop 402 of the Boy Scouts of America.
