The Team FYN Sports Sports Writer Player of the Week  for the Gilmer Bobcats is a young man who never made it to the field in the 2018 regular season.  Hunter Bowyer suffered a season ending injury in the preseason game against Murray Co.  Bowyer was ready for first year as a running back for the Bobcats in his first year playing football for the high school.

On the first play from scrimmage in that game Bowyer’s leg was rolled up by a  Murray Co. Indian defensive lineman.  Hunter Bowyer suffered a lower leg break.  Both the Tibia and Fibula were broke and needed surgery to repair the bones.

Bowyer could’ve easily took the selfish route and gave up on his team but he didn’t.  Number 14 was at every practice and at every game whether on the road or at Huff-Mosley Stadium.  Right there on the sidelines cheering on his team and giving high fives when either the defense or offense had a good play.  Choosing to be a part of the Bobcats shows his desire to be a team guy.
