JV Bobcats Fall At Home
Team FYN Sports March 4, 2019
The junior varsity Bobcats took the field on Tuesday to face off against the Dawson County Tigers. With the weather finally cooperating, the teams were excited to pick up the bats again and play the game they love.
The afternoon quickly changed for Gilmer as the Tigers took an early lead and never looked back. Falling behind by three runs in the top half of the first saw the JV Cats fight to catch up. The home half had Gilmer bring the score within one of their opponents but that would be as close as they could get The Tigers added runs in every inning but the fourth for a 15 run total in the game. Everything seemed to go Dawson’s way on the day with the visiting team taking a 15-4 victory over the JV Cats
The 4 runs plated by the Bobcats were hard earned and scored by L. Marshall, B Groswick, S. Merritt, and B. Teague. Gilmer managed just three hits in the loss to the Tigers. Davis and Cochran took the hill for the home team and threw multiple innings to try and hold down a really good Dawson team. The JV Cats were scheduled to take the field versus Union last Thursday but with rain forecasted, the game was canceled. Next up for the Cats, Junior Varsity is Monday, March 4th as Lumpkin comes to Ellijay for a doubleheader. Game one starts at 4 PM with game two to follow.
