Upcoming roof top bar gets name, receives approval for elevator.

ELLIJAY, Ga. – The upcoming roof top bar will be fittingly called “The Roof” according to property owner Matt Bond, and the slogan will be “Eat, Drink, and View!”

During their meeting held on Monday, September 9, 2019, the Gilmer County Historic Preservation Committee unanimously approved an elevator for the building. This elevator will be located at the back side of the building in the alley way, not attached to the building itself. This decision was done entirely voluntarily by Bond and his associates.

Jerry Davis and Tom Crawford, both of whom are candidates for the Ellijay City Council, were also in attendance at this meeting.

The bar is expected to open in 60 days, though this isn’t guaranteed as of yet.

From the Historic Preservation Commission meeting agenda for Monday, September 9, 2019 (as approved):
“COA Application Review & Action for Docket 2019-004 (10/14 River Street.): build a permanent concrete structure that will have the same brick veneer to match the building as what will be used for the rooftop. This will be used for deliveries for the opened back doorway of the building that was previously approved. This concrete structure will encompass the steel posts for the stairs once they are installed. The construction of an elevator shaft and an additional covered structure on the roof of the rear that will be lower than the covered bar.
