Ms. Amelia Elizabeth (Dixon) Cornn, age 76 of Jasper, GA, passed away February 13th , 2020 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital surrounded by her family. Amelia was born on March 31st, 1943 in Maysville, NC to her parents Bernard Van Dixon and Florence Elizabeth Meadows. She graduated from White Oak High School in 1961 and obtained her Associates Degree in Business from FCCJ in Jacksonville, Florida. Amelia served several years with The Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity as Sister Marie Gerard in Philadelphia before returning to North Carolina and joining Civil Service as a Secretary in 1966. Amelia retired from the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL, after 30 years of Civil Service. Amelia was a loving daughter, sister, cherished grandmother, and above all a devoted mother to her three children. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper, GA. Amelia loved to garden, read, cook for friends and family, and could never resist a good crossword puzzle. Her infectious laughter, contagious smile, and love for all are just some of the many contributions to her lasting legacy. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 at the Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church with Father Byrd officiating. Friends and family are invited to join her children for lunch at her favorite restaurant at 12:30pm, Last Catch on Main in Jasper, GA. Interment will be held after the services at Ellijay City Cemetery at 2:00pm. Ms. Cornn is survived by son David Howard Cornn, Jr. of Ellijay, GA, daughter Candice and husband Joe Chambers of Canton, GA, daughter Amy and husband Scott Robertson of Canton, GA, grandchildren Nathan and wife Amye Cornn, Chance Carden, Mac Chambers, Erin Chambers, siblings Leo (Christina) Dixon, Bernadette Dixon Muratore, James (Nell) Dixon, Ruth Dixon, Helen Johnson, Connie (Joe) Maides, and Linda (Dave) Deckard. Her children will receive friends and family from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, February 18th, 2020 at the Logan Funeral Home. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.loganfuneralhome.com.
