First Saturday Serves as a Success

The weather finally cooperated with the citizens of Gilmer County on Saturday, June 1st, as the sunny skies made for a perfect time to hold the First Saturday event, which is sponsored by the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce, who do so in order to support local businesses and to enhance the quality of the community.

The day was highlighted by several booths, which featured arts and crafts among many other items, set up along the roundabout in Ellijay, giving those who took the time to walk around an opportunity to see all that the people of Gilmer had to offer.
As if the booths were not enough for those who took the first Saturday of June to walk around downtown Ellijay, there were several other features to First Saturday, which included live music from the band Slickfoot, along with a “Family Fun Zone” further up North Main Street, which hosted a moonwalk for the kids along with a bicycle parade.
