Alma Wilson

July 8, 1925 – January 16, 2019

Mrs. Alma Wilson was born July 8, 1925. She came from a loving home with two sisters, two brothers and parents who worked alternating shifts to make sure someone was always present for the kids. This strong foundation made her into the wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that she would later become. One of her favorite sayings came from her Daddy which she repeated often, “love ‘em and hold ‘em all you can cause you’ll turn around 3 times and they’ll be grown”

Alma had two sons, Michael and Bill. She raised both boys by herself for six years while working at the cotton mill. Shortly after, she met her second husband Ralph. When he asked to marry her, her youngest son Bill said, “I will give you all the money in my piggy bank if you will say yes”. They had a wonderful marriage of 40 years.

She was a social butterfly and rarely missed her morning breakfast club meeting at Mrs. Winners in Atlanta. She also enjoyed being with family, volunteering, craft making and participating in the local senior centers. Nearly 15 years ago Alma moved to Ellijay to be closer to her son Bill where she continued her volunteering at a local thrift store.

Alma is survived by her brother, Toby, son, Bill, 8 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren who lovingly called her MawMaw. She was a born again Christian who loved the Lord. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched, but we will see her again one day in Heaven

Funeral Services will be held Saturday January 19^th at 11am from the Bible Baptist Church with Rev. James Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, GA at 3pm.

The family will receive friends Friday January 18^th from 5pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
