Ralston told the students of his journey which began with his matriculation through Gilmer County Schools, starting with Oakland Elementary, and has thus far ended with his position as Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives.

He said,

“Find what gives you joy and follow it.”

Ralston also told the students that despite the fact that many people experience failure in life, one should never cease to aspire to ascertain one’s goals.

“I was not elected Speaker the first time I ran. Life is not always fun, and sometimes you want to quit, but quitting ought not be an option.”

He told the students that the reason he ran for office was because he felt was the right thing to do.

He would leave the students with these words of advice,

“In all that you do, Be Strong and Courageous.”
