Learn the basics or if you already know how to knit or crochet come work on a project with us – bring our own knitting needles or crochet hook and yarn – ages 12 years and up.
Gilmer County Genealogical Society
Use Your Computer to Conduct Genealogy Research

Gilmer Genealogy Society member John Davis will teach a class explaining the most effective and efficient methods to conduct online genealogy research including using www.ancestory.com. Registration is not required so come and join in if you are interested in genealogy research.

Are you interested in learning the basics of understanding and writing code in Java, Python, and others? Stop in and check out the fun. We are using www.code.org tutorials because we’re learning too.

Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Lauren Cape and Lynda Decker will be your host and teacher. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, come when you can, you don’t have to be at every class. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.

The Bookshelf
“Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.” Groucho Marx. The Bookshelf is featuring a collection of books on man’s best friend this week. Training, psychology, health care, humor – we’ve got it all, with a sprinkling of favorites on feline friends as well.
Please remember to donate your gently read magazines to the Bookshelf and pick up some others for yourself. We have everything from gardening to hot rods, all bargains at $.25 each.
Bookshelf hours are from 10:30-5:00 on weekdays and from noon-2:00 on Saturdays.
