Emergency Room/Department to close.
Effective March 1, 2016, North Georgia Medical Center will be closing its Emergency Room/Department, thus no longer providing ER services for an indefinite period of time. It is the hospital’s hope that this measure is a temporary one and the decision was forced upon the hospital due to financial reasons. This change will allow the hospital to maintain a financial position that allows it to continue its mission and provide key services to the Gilmer County service area.
Hospital leadership has reviewed this proposal and confirmed that it will not create any change to its current licensure status. Additionally, the hospital leadership has also confirmed that it will not impact the hospital’s accreditation status with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO).
This change does not affect Gilmer Nursing Home or the physicians based at the Medical Offices of North Georgia. Incidentally, most of the hospital services will remain the same, including outpatient and inpatient care, surgery, swing bed rehabilitation and nursing home care. Departments such as laboratory, radiology, and respiratory will continue to operate and see patients with only a change in the hours that those services will be available. Employees that will be affected by the ER closure will be offered assistance finding other positions if they desire.
North Georgia Medical Center has faced a number of obstacles over the years, but its commitment to the community is the same and we encourage the community to support your local hospital. A partir de 01 de marzo de 2016, North Georgia Medical Center cerrova su sala de emergencias así no habra más servicios de ER por un período indefinido de tiempo. Es la esperanza del hospital que esta medida es temporal y la decisión fue forzada en el hospital debido a razones financieras. Este cambio permitirá al hospital a mantener una posición financiera que le permita continuar su misión y proporcionar servicios básicos a la zona de servicio del Condado de Gilmer.

La Dirección del hospital ha examinado esta propuesta y confirmó que no generará ningún cambio en su estado actual de la licencia. Además, la dirección del hospital ha confirmado que no afectará la acreditación del hospital ante la Comisión conjunta sobre Acreditación de organización a cuidado de la salud (JCAHO).

Este cambio no afecta a Gilmer reposo o los médicos en las oficinas médicos de Georgia del norte. Por cierto, la mayoría de los servicios del hospital seguirá siendo el mismo, incluyendo la atención ambulatoria y hospitalización, cirugía, cuidado de rehabilitación y reposo de cama swing. Departamentos tales como laboratorio, radiología y voluntad respiratoria continúan operando r y veran a los pacientes con sólo un cambio en las horas que los servicios estarán disponibles. Empleados que se verán afectados por el cierre de ER se ofrecerá asistencia para encontrar otras posiciones si lo desean.
