Jim McIntosh

December 11, 1946 – November 22, 2018

Jim McIntosh, of Ellijay, died peacefully in his home on November 22, 2018, at the age of 71.

Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Michele; son, Jimmy Jr; daughters and sons-in-law, Krissie & Smitty Dotson and Hollie & Mark Cooper; six grandchildren who gave him more happiness and purpose than he ever knew possible, and one very special Daisy dog.

Born December 11, 1946, Jim truly didn’t start living until March 9, 1968 when he made the best decision of his life by marrying Michele Marsicano in Tampa, FL. Since 1986, they have made Ellijay their home, always welcoming in everyone.

Jimmy Mac, as he was often called, was a successful businessman for 50+ years in the food and beverage industry. He will be remembered fondly as the man who never met a stranger, showed true integrity, leadership, and camaraderie in the workplace, and could effortlessly deliver a great punchline.

Jim loved family vacations and dinners, and gathering almost daily with his wife, children and grandchildren around the pool or fireplace. His passion for animals, music, model trains, and Georgia Bulldogs football are just a few of the legacies he leaves behind.

A visitation will be held at Bernhardt’s Funeral home on November 25, 2018 from 2-4 pm with a memorial service to follow in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gilmer County Animal Shelter or Best Friends Animal Society at www.bestfriends.org.
