John Schaeffer Gersch

1941 – 2019

Mr. John Schaeffer Gersch, age 77 of Port Saint Lucie, FL passed on Tuesday, January 1^st, 2019 at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital of Ellijay, GA.

Mr. Gersch was born on September 20^th, 1941 to his late parents, Mary Holmes Gersch and Albert Gersch. John was a graduate of Palm Beach High School and continued his education to obtain an Associate degree from Palm Beach Junior College. John was of the Catholic faith, served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam war, and was formerly employed by Pratt & Whitney, RCA, and Horseshow Management. He is preceded in death by his sister Vicki Gersch Luguire.

A Celebration of Life Service is being planned and will take place in the spring of 2019.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Deanie “Dee” Gersch of the home in Port Saint Lucie, FL; daughter, Jo-Dee Gersch Payne of Union, WV; grandchildren, Ethan Payne and Jamison Payne; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann & Peter York of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Betsy & Bill Raper of Loxahatchee, FL; brothers and sister-in-law, Chris Gersch of Jupiter, FL and Andy & Kathy Gersch of Opelika, AL.
