Donald Stinson Smith

Mr. Donald Stinson Smith, age 84 of the Blackberry Mountain community Ellijay, GA passed on Thursday January 24, 2019 at his home. Born June 4^th, 1934 to his late parents Reid E, Sr. & Laura Mae (Stinson) Smith in Louisville, KY. Donald was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Ellijay and spear headed a community garden for the Gilmer Food Pantry and maintained it for 12 years. After attaining his master’s degree, he worked over 40 years as a data processor, helping many hospitals set up their computer systems. He was recognized by the states of Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky for being a “Who’s Who” in the data processing field. Donald honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was also very passionate about football and fishing.

Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sharon Esterle Smith of Ellijay, daughters and sons-in-law, Bunny and Jeff Anderson of Townsend, GA, Karen & David Garvin of Woodstock, Kathy & Jack Jeffers of Waleska, sons and daughters-in-law, Chaplain Bryan & Paula Smith of Bainbridge, OH, Stuart & Vicki Smith of Flowery Branch, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, brother, Reid Smith, Jr. of Ormand Beach, FL.
