Small Business Owners: Small Business Saturday is right around the corner! To help your business up for success on November 28th, here are some specials to consider:
  • Go Virtual- if your business is set up for e-commerce, consider online-only deals this Small Business Saturday. Paired with in-store sales, online only deals can help drive even more sales to locals who are away visiting family for the holidays.
  • Think INSIDE the Box- What are some items you could bundle to help people celebrate the season. Pair carefully-curated items for an all-inclusive at home experience like a spa day or a girl’s night in.
  • Get Social- Have some inventory you want to clear to make room for new merchandise? Consider going live on Facebook or Instagram for a Clear the Clearance sale! You can show items, give descriptions and prices, and have watchers comment to purchase items. After, you can invoice through a service like PayPal or arrange in-store payment and pick-up.
  • Host a Pop-Up- If you are friends with a business that compliments yours but doesn’t have a brick and mortar store, consider hosting a pop-up and letting them set up a table in your store for the day. This way, you can help drive each other’s business. It’s a win-win!
Be on the lookout next week for tips on sharing the word about your Small Business Saturday specials.
Gilmer Chamber Team Spotlight: Ron Cheslock
Ron Cheslock serves your Gilmer Chamber as an ambassador and serves the county as a FF/EMT – Community Paramedicine Provider with Gilmer Fire and Rescue.
Ron has lived in Gilmer County full time since 2015 and loves the small town, friendly feeling and also having all the great opportunities and amenities of the outdoors right here in our own backyard. It is fitting Ron found himself in Ellijay because his favorite things to do in his free time are exploring the outdoors by hiking, mountain biking, and fishing. What better place to call home than Georgia’s Mountain Biking Capital?
Ron says that if he could be any color he would be Robin’s Egg Blue because,
“I believe it best represents my personality. A bold, yet quiet and subdued color. It can blend with any other color, and often stand out in most settings.”
(And anyone who has the honor of knowing Ron will confirm that the description he provided fits him perfectly!)
Giving Tuesday is Coming up on December 1st! It’s not too late for your non-profit organization to get a game plan together for Giving Tuesday. Here are some steps you need to take this week to get your organization ready:
  1. Pick a Focus. Fundraisers with a specific purpose and amount such as raising $500 to purchase winter coats for families in need will generally rally more support than just saying, “Help us raise money for families in need today!” Don’t be afraid to ask for specific support!
  2. Create a Communication Plan. How will you spread the information that you’re participating in Giving Tuesday? Will you share it with your email list? Can you include it in a print newsletter? Will you share on Instagram or Facebook? Communicating your organization’s plans with your supporters will help spread the message further.
  3. Pick How To Fundraise. Will you take donations via PayPal or another method? Be sure to decide early to make sure your accounts are set up and up to date. There is even still time to apply for accepting donations directly through Facebook if your organization is eligible.
  4. Set Aside Time. A successful Giving Tuesday campaign is going to take time to plan. Decide how big you want to set your goal and analyze the work that will be required to achieve that goal (Do you need to record/edit video? Do you need to engage board members and ambassadors to help spread the message? Do you need time to design posts?) This will help you decide how much time you need to dedicate to a winning campaign!
Stay tuned for more Giving Tuesday campaign ideas next week!
