Bobcats Clutch 9 Lives on Next Level
Featured Stories, Team FYN Sports May 8, 2013 , by LT MeltonThe Gilmer High School Bobcats senior class has had nine different athletes sign scholarships to continue their sporting careers at the collegiate level. A brief ceremony was held to honor eight of the nine; Marlen Hensley later signed a baseball scholarship to play for Georgia Highlands.The eight seniors that were honored during the ceremony were: Brittany Lowman (basketball/Truett McConnell); Rebecca Riddle (track and field/Brenau); Trevor McClure and Drew Parks (golf/Point Universtiy); Luke Davenport (football/Greenville College (Ill)); Cameron Kephart (football/North Ga. Tech); Connor Webber (football/Berry); and Cheyenne Frady (volleyball/Shorter).
Athletic Director, Mike Putman, opened the ceremony by giving thanks to all in attendance before having David Henson introduce Brittany Lowman and Marlen Hensley as the GHS 2013 Vince Dooley Awards Nominees. Afterward each athlete was recognized individually.
After the ceremony several players and coaches spoke with FYN about the student athletes’ rise to the next level.
