The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team recently hired former Colquitt County Packers assistant coach, Zach Grage. Grage served as the running backs for the last four years and the strength and conditioning coach for the last two years. He was named co-offensive coordinator and helped lead the Packers to the AAAAA 2015 State Title, with an undefeated 15-0 record. (more…)

Scratching and clawing, the Gilmer High School Bobcats football team brought the regular season down to 22 seconds before securing a AAAA playoff spot. The Gilmer Bobcats won friday night against the Heritage Generals 27-20. A playoff spot was on the line for both teams and the Generals did not go easy without a fight. (more…)

The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team hosted the Lafayette Ramblers on “Senior Night.” The Ramblers entered the game 2-6 on the season and 0-4 in Region 7-AAAA. Conversely the home team was 6-1 and 3-1. The “Cats” cruised to victory, lambasting Lafayette 62-27, largely on the legs of Russell Cochran who rushed for a school record 319 yards and five touchdowns. (more…)

The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team traveled the long road to Ridgeland High School for a region battle with the Panthers. The Bobcats came into the game 0-1 in Region 7-AAAA and 3-1 on the year, with the Panthers having the identical overall record but inverse region record. Both teams would leave the game 1-1 as Gilmer got the 21-7 road win. (more…)

The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team officially opened the season hosting long-time rival, the Rebels of Fannin County High School. The Bobcats did not a miss a beat, coming in on the heels of last year’s state tournament berth, as the Bobcats beat the Rebels soundly, giving up only one score in a 41-7 sound victory. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team defeated the Fannin High School Rebels 41-7 in the opening game of the season for both long time rivals. Garrett Rigdon’s 70 yard interception return began a route that featured four Russell Cochran rushing touchdown (42, 6, 23, and 30 yards) and a 55 yard touchdown run from Chris James. (more…)
The 2014 fall football season will have a new aspect, as the FYN Coach’s Show with Gilmer High School head football coach, Wesley Tankersley, will have a different vibe. For the first time in FYN Sports history, the coach’s show will be live, every Thursday evening at 7pm on FetchTV. The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team closed the book on the 2013 season with the end of the year banquet, honoring seniors, and the accomplishments of the 2013, including a 9-3 season with a trip to the second round of the playoffs. (more…)
The Gilmer Bobcats’ football squad had one of its most successful seasons in school history, and that did not go unnoticed by the rest of 7-AAAA, who selected a grand total of total members of Gilmer High School, including head coach Wesley Tanksersley.

The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team, after a 26-22 defeat of the Troup Tigers in the first round of the playoffs, will face the Marist War Eagles in the second round, at Marist. The matchup is a rematch of last year’s first round game, in which the Bobcats got lambasted 56-0. FYN was able to speak with both team’s head coaches about the upcoming rematch, and they agree that this year’s game should be much different than last year’s contest. (more…)
