There’s a “new”coach in the neighborhood, she lives in Gilmer and it’s understood, she’s there just to take good care of the Lady “Cats,” like she’s one of the family. Kim Charles is in charge of the Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats basketball team. Charles, a long time assistant, and also the head softball coach, will replace Herb Horton, who retired earlier this year.In a brief press conference held in the school’s media center principal, Adam Hathaway, introduced Charles as the new head woman.

Hathaway expressed his exuberance at the finality of the process as well as his high expectations for Charles in the role as head coach.

“I want to take this opportunity to express how excited I am to finally have this process come to culmination,” Hathaway said.

Charles then answered questions from the gathered press core.

Charles expressed excitement about the new role.

“I’m tremendously excited about taking over the Lady “Cat” program. I’m looking forward to us moving in a positive direction, becoming a very intense aggressive basketball team. I’m definitely looking forward to the next few years, (and) seeing how we can make the program grow.”
