Mr. Charles Allen Swinamer, age 80 of Ellijay, GA passed on Monday, July 1st, 2019 at the Piedmont Hospital in Ellijay.

Mr. Swinamer was born on April 7^th, 1939 in Cranston, Rhode Island to his late parents, Lester Allen and Eleanor Emrich Swinamer. He was a 1957 graduate of Cranston High School and attended Oklahoma State University for 2 years. Charles served his country honorably in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War Era, worked as a mechanic for most of his life, and was the former Fire Chief of Port Charlotte, FL. He was a member of the Good Samaritan Catholic Church in Ellijay and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Swinamer of the home in Ellijay, GA; children, Charles A. Swinamer of Ellijay, GA, Joseph E. Swinamer of Jacksonville, FL, and Cheryl Ann Prevatte of Venice, FL; grandchildren, Samantha Swinamer and Austin Swinamer.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 6^th, 2019 from the Good Samaritan Catholic Church of Ellijay with Father Carlos Vargas officiating. Military funeral services will be at 10:00am on Saturday, July 6^th before the funeral mass in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will be on Monday, July 8^th at 10:00am in the Georgia National Cemetery with the members of the Knights of Columbus serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, July 5^th at the Logan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gilmer County FFA c/o Mike Bushey at 408 Bobcat Trail Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mr. Swinamer.
