Charles James “Jimmy” Lovingood, age 76 of Ellijay, Georgia passed on the morning of Thursday, July 11, 2019.

Mr. Lovingood was born in December 29^th, 1942 in Murphy, North Carolina to his late parents, Charles H. and Bessie Davis Lovingood.  He is preceded in death by his sister Marie Godfrey.

Jimmy was a 1962 graduate of Gilmer High School, where he excelled in sports.  He invested many years coaching the young people of Gilmer County in various sports and was inducted into the Gilmer High School Sports Hall of Fame in the fall of 2010.  Jimmy retired after 40 years with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Marietta, GA.  He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Oak Bowery Lodge and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

He Is survived by daughters Leigh Ann (Alan) Dover and Lori (John) Bramlett; grandchildren Jason Dover, James Dover and Ella Bramlett; sister Katherine McPherson; and special friend and caregiver Lemma Sanford, all of Ellijay, Georgia.  Several extended family members also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 14th, 2019 at 4:00 pm from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. John Bramlett officiating.  Music provided by Sharon and Darrell Rogers.

The family will receive friends from Sunday 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gilmer Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund at P.O. Box 63, Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mr. Lovingood.
