As Principle Eric McFee is said to be pursuing a Superintendent Position, the Gilmer County Board of Education has officially approved Karla Hensley as the new interim Principle of Gilmer High School.

Having been the Assistant Principle of Curriculum, Hensley has worked with McFee throughout the summer and says citizens can rest assured that she is set to maintain direction in the high school as she and other administration have already been working towards over the summer. Though she steps up into a new position, she states that her previous experience and established relationships with staff will allow for a smooth transition with the coming year.

While currently the position is only as interim, when asked if she would apply to remain permanent, Hensley stated, “Absolutely. I would love to. I was a principle in Colorado for five years, I love being a principle. So, I would absolutely apply if that became available.”
