Karla started her show this morning saying GO DAWGS!!! I have to agree with her on that note. Then she told us that TODAY is the 75th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition. So this holiday season while you are getting festive you can buy your favorite spirits from these local places: The Hitching Post, Mountain Treasures, Cartecay Vineyards, Chateau Mitchre, and Appalachian Beverage. The next great local gift you can give your family and friends is gift certificates to local restaurants. There are so many great ones in our small town to choose from. Lastly if your family has been thinking about getting a new furry friend; visit you local animal shelter. Make a difference in an animal’s life this Christmas by giving them a forever home with your family. As always we would like to thank the Gilmer County Chamber for sponsoring this segment.
Tuesdays are for Karla! There are always plenty of things to do this time of year in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains.

Are you looking for a great way to give back to your community? Right now there is a diaper drive happening in Gilmer county to benefit foster families. Abby’s Frozen Yogurt is helping to organize this diaper drive and is accepting all diaper donations at their location on South Main Street.
Also, due to Thanksgiving next week Karla will not be with us so she wanted to let us know what funHoliday events will be happening next week as well.

Its Halloween ya’ll! As you can see we all got in the Halloween Spirit today for the show. We even had Trump visit the show. Come out to the downtown area tonight and get all the candy you can carry from the local businesses. There will be Trunk or Treat events as well. Thank you to the Gilmer Chamber for sponsoring this segment.
Good Grief! Karla attempts to put ‘the angry white man’ in his place as she takes over GMFTO for Karla’s Korner. She talks Apple Festival and attempts to reign in BKP before he ruins too much of FYNTV’s newest production.
Everyone is excited and joining in on the Solar Eclipse hype. Well it is almost here. Next Monday, August 21st the Solar Eclipse will finally happen. Karla came to us with some great information today. The Gilmer Chamber did a little extra research on the protocol for the glasses needed to keep your eyes safe while looking at the eclipse. Listen in to this segment for all the details on which glasses are real and which glasses are fake. We would like to thank Gilmer Chamber for sponsoring this segment.
School has started back in North Georgia and you know what that means? The fair is coming to town! Gilmer County fair is here this week at the Lions Club Fair Grounds. It will be open starting tonight, August 8th through Sunday, August 13th from 6 pm to 9pm each night. Previously they have had just one night be “arm-band night” but this year they have made that an option for every night. Also going on this week we have the August Chamber Network Luncheon. That event will be held Thursday, August 10th at the New Gilmer Arts Playhouse in down town Ellijay. They will have 9th District Congressman Doug Collins as the guest speaker and will also be doing the ribbon cutting for the Playhouse at 1 pm. For more info on this and other events going on in Gilmer County check out the events calendar on the Chamber’s website.
Tuesday mornings mean a great time with Karla from Gilmer Chamber. This weekend is a nice quiet weekend in Gilmer county. There will be live music at the local vineyards and at the Legion. Saturday morning is also the Ellijay Farmer’s Market. Get out this weekend and enjoy the beautiful north GA mountains. For times or information on live music and other events in Gilmer County this weekend, check out the Gilmer Chamber Event’s Calendar.
This time of year the weather is HOT in Georgia! But never fear here in the North Georgia mountains our rivers are full and there are tons of fun to be had in the waters of North Ga. You can swim, tube, canoe, or kayak. Speaking of swimming – Gilmer County City Pool and Park N Rec is hosting this years 5th District Swim Meet on June 24th. FetchYourNews will be covering this event live and streaming LIVE on FYNTV. What else is going on this week you ask? Lots of live music at various places throughout the county, Garden Club’s flower show, the Farmers Market, and the Gilmer County Rodeo!
