The Lady Bobcats softball team traveled to Lumpkin County High School on Tuesday to take on the Lady Indians. After a controversial call ended the junior varsity game, which saw the Lady Indians get a 2-1 victory despite the game ending with Gilmer at the plate and two women on; the varsity took the field, falling 9-1. The Gilmer County Swim Team traveled to Tifton, Georgia this past weekend, July 20th-21st, to compete in the GA State GRPA B/C Swimming Championship. The Team returned drenched in Medals, tying for 14th place overall, the best showing ever for the Gilmer County Swim Team. (more…)
The Gilmer Bobcats baseball continued its summer schedule by participating in the Pickens High School Dragons Invitational. The home team won the tournament; however, the Bobcats were able to work on developing the talent on a team that lost few seniors, coming into the new season. (more…)
Gilmer High School graduating senior basketball player, Ryan Lowery, signed his letter of intent to play basketball at Brewton-Parker College on Friday May 18,2012. Lowery chose the Barons after the Barons initially showed interest in recruiting him.
The Gilmer High School Bobcats junior varsity baseball team traveled to Fannin County to take on the Rebels. The Bobcats, despite taking advantage of numerous errors by the home team, fell to Fannin 8-6. (more…)
The Gilmer Bobcats baseball team hosted the Mountaineers of North Murray, the first ever home game for head coach, Kyle Barr, as Gilmer’s head baseball coach. North Murray barely beat the Bobcats, winning 5-4, despite holding a 5-1 lead midway through the game’s seventh and last inning. Gilmer got it going in the bottom half of the seventh, scoring three runs, all off steals on home, and loading the bases before a strike out ended the game. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats and Bobcats basketball teams hosted the Lady Buccaneers and Buccaneers of Allatoona High School. The home teams went 0-2 as Allatoona’s ladies won 48-41, and the boys’ team won going away 68-29. (more…)
The Gilmer Bobcats wrestling team is headed to the State Duals meet in Macon. The Bobcats secured a trip, by placing second in the 7-AAA Area tournament, held at Heritage High School in Ringgold. Gilmer rumbled by the Ramblers of Lafayette 44-19 to take second place. The host team, the Generals, placed first to win Heritage’s first ever Area Duals Championship, by beating the Bobcats in the finals 37-21. (more…)
