Barr Bids Bye at Bobcats’ Baseball Banquet

The Gilmer Bobcats’ baseball team bid bye to head coach, Kyle Barr. Barr bid adieu after one year as the Bobcats’ head man at the annual Bobcats baseball banquet. He has taken a job at Chestatee High School, which Barr says will,
“save 700 miles of driving, per month.”
Colt Carries “Cats” in Gilmer’s Game Over Generals

With play-off hopes on the line, Colt “Homer” Henderson hit two three run home runs in the 8-6 Bobcats victory over Heritage; however, the win, featuring a great outing on the mound by Shane Dale (AKA Dale “Boy”) and Henderson’s aforementioned six RBI’s was not enough to get the Bobcats into the playoffs. The Bobcats playoff hopes hung on winning by four runs and Heritage losing the next game to Dalton. Tall order but possible. (more…)
“Cats” Clobber Catamounts 10-0 Before Bobcats Mangle Murray 13-0

The Gilmer Bobcats baseball team had two easy wins in the last week that involved the ten run rule. The “Cats” clawed the Catamounts of Dalton 10-0. A few days later the Bobcats masterfully managed to scalp the Indians of Murray county 13-0. (more…)

“Cats” Come Up Short in Come Back Attempt

The Gilmer Bobcats baseball team hosted the Mountaineers of North Murray, the first ever home game for head coach, Kyle Barr, as Gilmer’s head baseball coach. North Murray barely beat the Bobcats, winning 5-4, despite holding a 5-1 lead midway through the game’s seventh and last inning. Gilmer got it going in the bottom half of the seventh, scoring three runs, all off steals on home, and loading the bases before a strike out ended the game. (more…)
Bobcats Rise Over Raiders on Senior Night

The Gilmer High School Bobcats basketball teams hosted the Raiders of South East Whitfield on “Senior Night” for the home teams. The home teams swept the Raiders with two blow out victories. The Lady Bobcats bested the Lady Raiders, 53-31, and the Bobcats bested the Raiders 81-55. (more…)
