The Gilmer High School Lady “Cats” basketball team looked to build on a successful season with a strong showing in the Region 7-AAAA tournament, and the ladies did just that by earning a berth in the State Tournament. GHS faced SE Whitfield in the first round, NW Whitfield in the second, and finished the tournament against Heritage. The Lady “Cats” finished in third place good for a spot in the State Tournament, and a first round trip to Columbus High School. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats basketball team had a busy week this week with makeup games being scheduled amongst games already scheduled for the week. It was a very good week for Gilmer as the ladies were able to win their final games of the regular season and head into the Region 7A-AAAA tournament with momentum on their side. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Bobcats and Lady “Cats” basketball teams traveled south to face their region rivals from Pickens High School, the Dragons and Dragonettes. It was the second time these teams had met this year, with the first coming in the annual Tip-Off Tournament. Gilmer got the sweep, with the Lady “Cats” clawing out a two point, 46-44 victory, and the Bobcat boys beating the Dragons 57-42. (more…)
On Friday night, the Gilmer High School junior varsity and varsity Lady Bobcats basketball teams traveled to Woodstock to face the River Ridge Lady Knights for the first time this year. It proved to be a tough night for all of the GHS teams, but the JV girls helped avoid a sweep by winning 42-29. The varsity fell 54-42. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team had three players named to the 7-AAAA All-Region Team. Jenna Parks was named to the First Team. Brooke Sims was named to the Second Team. Sarah Lambert was named Honorable Mention.
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats basketball team took to the court twice over the past weekend and came away with two victories, 61-48 over Fannin, and 52-46 over Murray. (more…)
Tuesday December 3rd, marked the first time the Gilmer basketball teams saw any game action since the Tip-Off Tournament during Thanksgiving week. Gilmer welcomed Gordon Central to town, and after the junior varsity squads won with ease, the Lady Bobcats clawed the Lady Warriors 53-28, while the Bobcats’ boys waxed the Warriors 87-63. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Cats had a successful trip to Fannin County as to participate in the annual Tip-Off Tournament. The ladies had a chance to be Co-Champions on the final day, and came back from a huge deficit to make it close; however Gilmer fell to Fannin 37-40. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team road to Ringgold for the Region 8-AAAA Tournament at Heritage High School, where the Lady “Cats” clinched a fourth seed in the state tournament, after beating Northwest Whitfield. Previously the Lady “Cats” avoided another catastrophe at the hands of the Catamounts, when Gilmer disposed Dalton, the team that had knocked Gilmer out of the Region Tournament, the three previous years. This is the first trip to the state playoffs for the Gilmer volleyball team since 2006. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team hosted the Dragonettes of region rival, Pickens High School. The Lady “Cats” clipped the “Nettes” at the nets, sweeping both the junior varsity and varsity matches, (25-19, 25-21), and (26-24, 25-15) respectively. In between the JV and varsity matches the Lady “Cats” honored the five graduating seniors: Jenna Parks; Britton Farlow; Sarah Lambert; Darby Herald; and Harmony Malham, in a brief ceremony. (more…)
The Gilmer Lady Cats volleyball team played host to LaFayette High School and Northwest Whitfield. The team played well and looked well-coached, but was only able to win one of the matches. Against LaFayette, Gilmer took the W (25-16(L), 27-25, 25-21) but lost a tough one to the Bruins of NW Whitfield (25-14, 27-25(L), 25-20(L)). (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team, recently traveled to West Hall, with both junior varsity and Varsity teams leaving the Lady Spartans with losses, despite the half the lights dimming during the varsity match. A varsity loss to Athens Christian in three sets followed, briefly before leaving for a Lumpkin High School tournament; there the varsity dropped three of four, with a win over Lakeview. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team held the annual end of the year banquet at the Heritage House. The menu was a low country boil and the food was plentiful. After dinner was served, head coach, Donna Parks, then recognized the managers and individual players before giving a brief synopsis of the season and acknowledging the teams’ superlatives. (more…)
