Region 7-AAA play got underway this past Friday and by the looks of it, it’s anyone’s to win.
Fannin Rebels(2-2,0-0) had the week off to get prepared for their upcoming region match-up with Banks County(3-2,0-1). Banks is coming off a loss to Franklin County(2-2,1-0) last week, 7-14. Banks was 8-14 passing for 83 yards. 36 carries for 175 yards and 8 catches for 83 yards. Franklin had no data posted.
East Hall(1-4,1-0)travelled to Lumpkin County(2-3,0-1) and made short work of the Indians, winning easily, 48-14. There were no available stats at present.
Dawson County(2-2,1-0) made a trip to defending Region 7-AAA champs, West Hall Spartans(2-3,0-1) and shut them out, 14-0. No available stats recorded

The Gilmer High School Bobcats wrestling team, honored its two seniors Will Gudger and Jaime Lopez. After a brief ceremony, the Bobcats then bested the Fannin Rebels, 63-12, the Northwest Whitfield Bruins 50-18 and the Calhoun Yellow Jackets 62-0. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team defeated the Fannin High School Rebels 41-7 in the opening game of the season for both long time rivals. Garrett Rigdon’s 70 yard interception return began a route that featured four Russell Cochran rushing touchdown (42, 6, 23, and 30 yards) and a 55 yard touchdown run from Chris James. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats softball team traveled to Lanier Point Park to partake in some season beginning games. The Lady “Cats” won one and half games, getting a shut-out victory over Fannin, and a four run lead over Chestatee before a the game was called due to rain. The lone Lady “Cats” loss came at the hands of Duluth. (more…)
The Gilmer Bobcats basketball team looked to stay undefeated on the young season as Gilmer played back-to-back days this past weekend. On Friday night, the “Cats” beat Fannin County 72-41 in a game where history was made. Saturday saw Gilmer take on a tougher Murray County squad, but they still managed a 63-48 victory. (more…)

Led by the point scoring duo of Joe Bob Charles and Wheeler Lancey, the Gilmer High School Bobcats boys’ basketball team won its third straight Tip-Off Tournament title, going undefeated in the process. The tournament, featuring three schools from North Georgia, Gilmer, Pickens High School, and Fannin County High School, the host this year, and Copper Basin of Tennessee. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Cats had a successful trip to Fannin County as to participate in the annual Tip-Off Tournament. The ladies had a chance to be Co-Champions on the final day, and came back from a huge deficit to make it close; however Gilmer fell to Fannin 37-40. (more…)

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats and Bobcats basketball teams both placed first in the annual ETC Tip-Off Tournament. The round robin style tournament features boys and girls’ basketball games played between Copper Basin, Fannin County, Pickens, and Gilmer High Schools. The Gilmer Lady Bobcats junior varsity volleyball team traveled to Pickens High School to take on the Fannin County Lady Rebels and the home team Dragonettes. Gilmer swept both teams sweeping Fannin 2-0 and winning 2-1 in the best of three series against Pickens. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Bobcats varsity football team ended an eight year losing streak to the Fannin High School Rebels with a dramatic 29-21 win at Fannin County High School. The win was sealed when free safety, Colt Henderson intercepted Fannin quarterback Trevor Stone on fourth and 12. (more…)
