The Gilmer High School Bobcats boys’ basketball team had a game filled week that couldn’t have gone much better. It contained a win over rival Pickens, a win on “Senior Night” over Cedartown, and a win in one of the most bizarre games ever seen against Dalton. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Bobcats and Lady “Cats” basketball teams traveled south to face their region rivals from Pickens High School, the Dragons and Dragonettes. It was the second time these teams had met this year, with the first coming in the annual Tip-Off Tournament. Gilmer got the sweep, with the Lady “Cats” clawing out a two point, 46-44 victory, and the Bobcat boys beating the Dragons 57-42. (more…)
Friday night saw the Gilmer Bobcats take on the River Ridge Knights in Woodstock. It was a night to forget for both the junior varsity and varsity, as neither was able to come away with a win. The JV had a tough time getting anything going, losing 61-26. The varsity team had a much better game but still fell 58-48. (more…)
The Gilmer Bobcats basketball team traveled to North Murray to take part in the Mistletoe Madness tournament. It was a trip that saw the Bobcats lose its first game of the year, in a below average game against Calhoun. Days two and three were much better though, as Gilmer got back to its winning ways. It was another successful week for the Gilmer High School Bobcats basketball team as the guys stayed unbeaten on the year. Tuesday evening saw the Bobcats face the Chestatee War Eagles. The Bobcats clipped the War Eagles’ wings with ease and walked away with the win, 82-60. Friday night, Gilmer faced their toughest competition of the year in the Dalton Catamounts. In a thriller, the “Cats” overcame a nine point deficit to win the game 82-73. (more…)
The Gilmer Bobcats basketball team looked to stay undefeated on the young season as Gilmer played back-to-back days this past weekend. On Friday night, the “Cats” beat Fannin County 72-41 in a game where history was made. Saturday saw Gilmer take on a tougher Murray County squad, but they still managed a 63-48 victory. (more…)
Tuesday December 3rd, marked the first time the Gilmer basketball teams saw any game action since the Tip-Off Tournament during Thanksgiving week. Gilmer welcomed Gordon Central to town, and after the junior varsity squads won with ease, the Lady Bobcats clawed the Lady Warriors 53-28, while the Bobcats’ boys waxed the Warriors 87-63. (more…)
Led by the point scoring duo of Joe Bob Charles and Wheeler Lancey, the Gilmer High School Bobcats boys’ basketball team won its third straight Tip-Off Tournament title, going undefeated in the process. The tournament, featuring three schools from North Georgia, Gilmer, Pickens High School, and Fannin County High School, the host this year, and Copper Basin of Tennessee. (more…)
The Gilmer High School golf team (Boys) won against every opponent they faced this week, en route to a 5-0 record. The first two matches were shortened due to darkness, but Gilmer’s light shined bright. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Bobcats basketball team traveled to Decatur to take on the Columbia Eagles, the three time defending state champions in a first round matchup of the state playoffs. Despite an early lead and three three’s from Wheeler Lancey the “Cats” got scratched from the playoffs 60-36. (more…)
The Gilmer Lady Cats and Bobcats got the job done on the first day of the Phoenix Classic at Sonoraville High School on Friday against North Paulding, as the Lady Cats annihilated the Lady Wolfpack by thirty-three points and the Bobcats used a big third quarter to outlast the Wolfpack. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats and Bobcats basketball teams both placed first in the annual ETC Tip-Off Tournament. The round robin style tournament features boys and girls’ basketball games played between Copper Basin, Fannin County, Pickens, and Gilmer High Schools.
