“American Hustle” Lives Up to the Hype
Opinion January 4, 2014Movies that are highly praised by the critics can sometimes leave audiences wondering what all of the fuss was about, which makes predicting what films are worth watching a lot like rolling dice. The new film American Hustle has been highly rated across the board, and at this point is nominated for 7 Golden Globes, but the question I had when I went to watch the movie was if this movie with an all-star cast was really worth all of the excitement.

Burgundy’s Laughs are Lackluster in “Anchorman 2”
Opinion December 21, 2013Sequels to great movies are often hard to gauge; sometimes, they are just as good or even better, like in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, but other times they are unbearable to watch, as in the 1988 atrocity called Caddyshack II. With that in mind, I was a bit skeptical with director Adam McKay’s new film Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which gives viewers another chance to see Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) and the Channel 4 Action News team once again. “What’s the Deal?” Braves Are the Best of the Worst in the NL Least
Opinion July 26, 2013The Atlanta Braves are playing less-than-stellar baseball coming out of the All-Star Break, as the team has managed a measly 3-4 record following a pair of series against the Chicago White Sox and the New York Mets, two teams that are not exactly lighting up the base paths so far this season. “What’s the Deal?” with Jordan Hill: Sleeping Through History
Opinion July 6, 2013Let’s go back two weeks to Tuesday, June 18th: it’s Game 6 of the NBA Finals, and it looks like the San Antonio Spurs are closing in on yet another championship. Now I’m all about watching championship games and seeing the victors crowned, but about halfway through the fourth quarter I’ve made a decision to call it a night: after all, the Heat have gotten on a significant run to take the lead, which makes a Game 7 look like a definite.

“The Hangover Part III” Has Its Moments
Opinion June 17, 2013In 2009 director Todd Phillips gave the world a hilarious comedy called “The Hangover”, a film about four friends who go to Las Vegas for a bachelor party, go crazy, and then wake up the next morning with no idea where they are and what happened. The movie was such a hit that it garnered a sequel in 2011 entitled “The Hangover Part II”, which then brought about a sequel this summer named “The Hangover Part III.”

Braves Send Prado Packing to Unite Upton Brothers
Opinion, Team FYN Sports January 24, 2013The Atlanta Braves pulled off a blockbuster trade on Thursday, as the team completed a deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks that brought outfielder Justin Upton and third baseman Chris Johnson to Atlanta and sent utility man Martin Prado, pitchers Randall Delgado and Zeke Spruill, shortstop Nick Ahmed and first baseman Brandon Drury.
The deal sets the Braves up with arguably the best outfield in the majors, as the team will have Justin Upton, his brother B.J., and Jason Heyward all in the same outfield, putting together a trio that last year combined for 72 homeruns with 227 RBIs and a batting average of .265. (more…)

Vandals Hurt Akey’s Breaky Heart
Opinion, Team FYN Sports October 24, 2012The Idaho Vandals became the first FBS school to make a head coaching change during this season, as the school announced on Sunday that Robb Akey had been relieved of his duties, effective immediately.
Akey, who was in the middle of his sixth season as Vandals head coach, posted a 20-50 record at Idaho with the highpoint coming in the 2009 season, when the Vandals finished the year 8-5 and won the Humanitarian Bowl.
