Homeward Bound Pet of the Week- Fergie

Fast & Furriest

Fergie came to us from animal control in NW Georgia.  She had been found as a stray and nobody claimed her.  This little girl is about 2 years old; 22# and will treat everyone she meets with a waggy tail and puppy kisses.  She loves sitting on your lap and getting hugs.  Fergie is reactive to the other dogs so do not think she’s a good candidate for a multi-pet home but just know that she would be a perfect only pet.

Fast & Furriest

Take a look at that smile and tell us that you can resist him!  Meet Smokey, a 2 ½ year old, 34 lb. Pug/Cocker/Beagle mix with the cutest underbite you’ve ever seen.  He is shy at first but once he gets to know you, he’s your buddy!  Smokey enjoys a good back rub and you benefit by getting to enjoy his thick, silky coat.  Your reward is his big smile and puppy kisses.

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Domino

Community

365 may be just a number to you but January 9th, will mark how many days Domino has been at the shelter at HBPR. That’s a long time in dog or people years. This boy is not only handsome but is smart. He knows commands; walks great on a leash; house trained; loves to do zoomies and play fetch; a great co-pilot and enjoys just snuggling with his person. However, Domino was not socialized when he lived in a home for a year and is a bit fearful when in public. Domino has had canine friends but would probably do best in a home where he is the only pet with adults and older children. He does not do well with small children or cats. He is 3 years old and weighs around 50 lbs.

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Lula Belle

Community

Meet Lula Belle; a 2 ½ year old; 21 lb. beagle (mix??) who had lived in a terrible hoarding situation with 20 other dogs.  When rescued from that home, she found herself in a shelter for a year living in a crate/run and let out 3 times a day.  LB has been with HBPR since 11/20/21.  She is residing comfortably in a foster home with 3 dogs and a cat.  The fosters are retired and home most of the time.  At this time, a harness and leash is kept on her 24/7; in order to get her outside for walks.  Her leash walking is fine and enjoys sniffing the new smells.  LB has improved social skills to the point we feel she is ready for a forever home with a hero who will have the time and patience that it’ll take for her to bond.  (She bonded quickly to her foster dad and lets the rest of us in s-l-o-w-l-y.)  Another dog and a fenced yard would be an ideal home for LB.  Every day is a new discovery for her and us!

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Cocoa Puffs

Community

What’s your kryptonite?  Mine are head tilts and cute underbites.  Cocoa Puffs is a winner in both of those categories. She had been an owner surrender at animal control; reason unknown.  CP is around 13 months old; around 42 lbs., lots of puppy exuberance, house trained, people pleaser and just a fun girl!  She supposedly gets along with children and was told she prefers the company of male dogs but the previous shelter had her playing with another girl and she did fine.

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Lulu Belle

Community

Meet Lulu Belle, a 2 ½ year old beagle mix who weighs in at 21 lbs.  At first glance, you’ll see her pretty face but what you don’t see is the suffering she had in the past as part of a hoarding/abuse case and living in a shelter for a year without anyone showing interest in adopting her or her 2 siblings.  LB is in a foster home now and is very comfortable with the fosters’ 4 dogs and cat.  In less than a week, she started showing signs of trusting humans and allowed petting without getting direct eye contact.  In one week, we found out that she loves snacks and has bonded with her foster dad who makes liver treats!  In 10 days, she was on foster dad’s lap giving puppy kisses.  There’s hope for her future but will have to be a family with a lot of patience as they introduce Lulu Belle to the world.  She is now walking well on a leash and wears a harness.  A fenced yard and a mature dog would be perfect to show her how to be a dog.

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Neemo

Community

Yes!  This is a posed picture of Neemo but the smile is genuine and this is how he greets everyone he meets.  Although Neemo has spent the last few months of his life in a shelter environment, his attitude stays happy and grateful for the attention paid to him.  He loves to chase balls and do figure 8 zoomies and would do well with a fenced yard.  He plays well with some of the dogs he’s been introduced to.  Neemo is around 3 years old and weighs close to 50 lbs.  He thinks he’s a lap dog!

Homeward Bound Pet Of The Week: Petey

Fast & Furriest

This handsome boy, Petey, is 44 lbs. of love and snuggles.  Petey’s sordid past does not keep him from smiling at everyone he meets!  He is house trained, enjoys walking on a leash, chewing on squeak toys and just hanging out next to you.  Petey would love to be able to run and play but because he is heartworm positive, his activity level must be kept to a minimum for the next few months.  Not to worry about the treatment expense, HBPR takes care of that.  Our goal is to get him healthy and a forever home.

Meet Ivory, a 2-year-old, 30 lb. terrier mix who came to us as a shy puppy who didn’t want to come out to play.  It took a few weeks for her to trust people again.  Today, she is a fun-loving girl who can’t get enough.  She loves to walk on a leash and especially enjoys running and playing in the fenced area on the property.
