Homeward Bound Pet Rescue- Pet of the Week- Daisy

Community

Meet Daisy, a 65 lb., 7 year old staffie mix who was surrendered to us when she
was only 6 months old. Over the years, Daisy has had her share of potential
adopters but they always chose someone else. At this time, Daisy thinks the
kennel volunteer are her family and the shelter, her home. It’s going to take a
very special person or family to help her through a transition of a real home.

Daisy loves to exercise in a fenced area and can run like the wind. She walks great
on a leash; gives kisses regularly; enjoys a soup bone with marrow; and loves
riding in a car. An ideal placement would be with her as an only dog and no cats!
Daisy is located at Homeward Bound Pet Rescue in Blue Ridge. Please contact us
for an appointment. Apply online: www.hbpr.org.

Homeward Bound Pet Rescue’s Pet of the week – Layla

Community

Meet Layla, a 7-year-old, 35 lb. people lover! Next to her smile, her brindle
markings make her stand out in a crowd. She loves walking on a leash next to
you; enjoys a good run in the agility pen and you can always count on a wagging
tail. Her perfect placement would be as an only dog as she is choosy about her
dog friends.

Layla is located at Homeward Bound Pet Rescue in Blue Ridge. Please contact us
for an appointment. Apply online: www.hbpr.org.

Homeward Bound Pet Rescue’s Pet of the Week – Tipper

Community

Meet Tipper, a 7 year old, 38 lb. Corgi/retriever mix who was kept in a 10X10
enclosure her whole life. She recently gave birth but we don’t know what
happened to the puppies. Tipper is also heartworm positive and will get her first
treatment on 7/16. Many of her teeth are broken and some are missing. Despite
of all this, she remains a sweet, smiling girl who enjoys contact with people and
especially lights up when she is around children.

Tipper is located at Homeward Bound Pet Rescue in Blue Ridge. Please contact us
for an appointment. Apply online: www.hbpr.org.

Meet Simon, a boxer mix who is approximately 5 months old. This young guy was found as a
stray and nobody claimed him. Their loss but what a treasure for some other lucky family. He
is already 30 lbs. so anticipate him being a big boy. He is gentle, loving and eager to please. He
wags his tail at all dogs and we have yet to hear him bark in the 4 days that we’ve had him.
We’d also love to tell you about volunteering, fostering and adoption opportunities.

Meet Tulip, a 30 lb; one-year-old terrier mix whose goal every day is to give and get hugs from
everyone she meets. The first thing you will notice is her smile and then her beautiful spotted
coat of caramel and vanilla. Tulip started her heartworm treatment on 5/21 and will need a
home where she can get leisurely walks every day; no playtime; no exerting her heart rate until
her treatment is through in November. A foster home will be welcome also!

If you’re looking for a dog who loves to hug and be affectionate, you must meet Olivia, a 55#, 3
year-old (we really never know for sure) hound dog. Olivia is HW+ and is currently being
treated for the next several months. At this time, she will require a quiet atmosphere; no rough
play; only leisurely walks. Olivia walks great on a leash. She just wants to be close. HBPR
covers all meds and treatment. Protocol can be transferred to another vet if out of the Gilmer
area.

Handsome Hank is a loveable 2-year-old, 40 lb. mix who was found injured on the side of the
road. He was taken to the vet and got his wounds tended to. They took him home where he
got along with the kids; a toddler and a middle-school-age child; 2 dogs and 2 cats. He fit right
in. He did bond with the “mom”. Hank is house trained and walks great on a leash.

Meet Daisy, a 7-year-old Staffie mix who has been at HB for 6 ½ years. She’s always been the
bridesmaid; never the bride when it came to adoptions. After so many years at the shelter, she
is apprehensive of everything new. She thinks the volunteers are her family and HB is her
home. Daisy loves people and car rides! A good placement for her would be the only dog in an
adult household who have a fenced yard; no small children only because of her strength and
bulk of 65 lbs. She gets enthusiastic and might accidentally hurt a little one.

Meet Carly, an 8 year old, 45 lb. shepherd mix who had been returned (after 7 years) to HB

a leash; very energetic; and knows basic commands.

Meet Gus, a handsome 40# terrier about a year old. Gus is an energetic puppy boy who was a
stray before going to doggy jail, so we have no idea what his story is. He is happiest when
running, fetching, and playing. Needless to say, he is frustrated in a shelter setting. Gus is best
with dogs his own size or larger. This boy will require patience while training him out of his
puppyhood.
