“Cats” Clip Colonels: Ladies’ Losses Linger

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats and Bobcats soccer teams took on the Lady Colonels and Colonels of Cass High School at home. While the Lady “Cats” fell, 9-0, the “Cats” Clipped the Colonels after Manny Lopez’s goal broke a 4-4 tie with just over four minutes left in the game, giving Gilmer a 5-4 victory. (more…)

7-AAAA All-Region Football Team Announced

Gilmer wins Cat Fight, Face Marist in Round 2

It was Gilmer High School’s first home playoff football game since 1997 as the Bobcats played host to the Tigers of Troup County. Troup was coming in with a record of 6-4 to face a resilient Bobcat squad who posted an 8-2 record on the year. Despite being 14-point underdogs, the Bobcats stepped up with big plays and a stingy defense that held its ground, giving Gilmer the 26-22 victory in the first round of the GHSA playoffs. (more…)

Bobcats Stun Chubb, Cedartown; Win Thriller 38-35

The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team traveled to Cedartown for their biggest game of the year. As highlighted in last week’s article, not only were the “Cats” preparing to battle for the sub-region championship, but the “Cats” also prepared to face Nick Chubb, the #1 running back in the state of Georgia, despite Chubb gaining 219 yards on the ground and four rushing touchdowns, the “Cats” claimed the championship with a 38-35 win after Manny Lopez connected on a 37 yard game winning field goal with seconds left in the game.

“Cats” Crush Cass: Coast to 30-13 Win

The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team traveled to Cass High School to take on the Colonels. Coming off of a bye week, Gilmer was ready to take the field and fight for a win. It was homecoming night for Cass, but the Colonels would fall to the strong option attack of the “Cats,” as Gilmer cruised to a 30-13 win. (more…)

Gilmer Routs Ramblers 35-7

After receiving their first loss of the year, the Gilmer Bobcats looked to get back to its winning ways Friday night in a Homecoming faceoff with the Ramblers of Lafayette. The Bobcats bounced back from the loss to Dalton, with a 35-7 rout of the Ramblers. The Gilmer defense was stingy all night, not giving up a touchdown, until the outcome was well past decided. The Gilmer Bobcats’ football team ended the spring season with its annual “Purple and White”Game. The white team won the defensive battle 7-0 when Austin Sprayberry recorded a sack on fourth and 10, ending the purple’s night, like the credits came on after an episode of “Barney.” (more…)
